About

Moodbox treats a kit as a coherent palette, not sixteen unrelated search results. Every bank is generated and chopped against the same sixteen functional roles, so changing the mood preserves the playable organization: kicks remain kicks, hats remain a choke pair, and accents keep their job while the material, place or genre changes.

The instrument is the module. Bank preparation and evaluation stay in the private Lab, which does not own a second sampler implementation. The canonical face, engine and preset schema are reused unchanged by /modules/moodbox, the Stepmood rack and the legacy /lab/moodbox compatibility route.

The standard nameplate's Moodbank selector is the one preset surface. The host carries raw or normalized source, visualization choice, master and voice ceiling, plus every non-default treatment on all sixteen pads through its compressed #p URL, so a rack link and a module link describe the same instrument state.

Experimental

Migration fallback: a page-only authored drawing, not yet runtime or export truth. Dashed cables carry modulation, not audio.

How it works.

A MIDI, keyboard or pointer strike resolves to one of sixteen AudioBuffers. Trim and reverse select the source region; transpose and fine tune set playback rate; the voice then passes through a resonant low-pass filter, stereo pan and a gain envelope.

Per-pad restart/layer policy, per-pad caps, four choke groups and a global ceiling arbitrate simultaneous one-shots. A shared SDK policy resolves touch or fixed velocity, variation and per-pad response, then ordered or shuffle-without-repeat round robin selects from each pad's local take pool.

The complete state is normalized into the moodbox@1 preset document. Sparse named parameters keep ordinary links short, while a versioned extension records the bank and non-numeric choices.

Part of these racks.

A rack is a fixed rig: several modules already wired together, playable as one instrument. This module is one of the pieces.
